Silicon Metal

Silicon metal powder, often in the form of atomized ferrosilicon, is a crucial component in welding electrode coatings and flux-cored wires, primarily acting as a deoxidizer to remove oxygen from the molten weld pool. It enhances weld strength, reduces porosity, improves corrosion resistance, and helps stabilize the welding arc. Atomized ferrosilicon powder commonly 45%−75% Si is preferred for its fine, spherical particle size, improving consistency.  Improves hardness, ductility, and tensile strength of the welded joint, while providing anti-corrosion properties. Silicon metal powder can also be used as a reducing agent for certain metals, new ceramic alloys, etc.
